Company History
For over 10 years, Safety by Design has been helping businesses like yours stay safe and compliant with OSHA regulations. The company was founded in 2009 by Lee Hart, the current president and CEO. Prior to founding Safety by Design, Hart spent 12 years in the industry building and executing effective Safety & Health Management Systems.
Safety and its surrounding systems have been Lee Hart’s passion for decades, and the founding of Safety by Design was prompted by a market gap that wasn’t being served by existing companies. Since it’s conception, Safety by Design has grown to 27 employees and was even ranked #33 on the Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 list.

Lee Hart, President & CEO
Organizational safety is in Lee’s blood. With over 21 years in the industry as a safety consultant, Lee brings a wealth of experience to every collaboration.
Lee has worked with clients of all sizes to help ensure the safety of their employees and has drafted and implemented various safety programs throughout his career.
From small construction jobs with high fall risk factors, to overseeing the safety of a $100M project, Lee has done it all.
Safety Expert
Lee Hart is currently teaching the OSHA 30 at the University of Houston for Construction Management Course students. He’s been a guest speaker at events for fortune 500 companies and is considered one of the area’s top experts in construction safety.

Philipp has been with Safety by Design Inc. since 2013.
Philipp likes to travel the world to explore the culture and history of those countries, as well as camping, and hunting.
He was born and raised in Germany where he attended school and became a certified electrician, after being discharged from the German Navy he decided to move to Texas and has been a Texan for 12 years. In his 17 years of construction experience he worked in the Electrical, Roofing and Glass industry.
- Currently teaching an OSHA 30 class at the University of Houston
- Has taught more then 25 OSHA classes last year
- Trainer in multiple fields including; Rigging and Signal Person; Scaffolds and many more
- Conducted dozens of accident/fatality investigations

David has been with Safety by Design Inc. since 2013.
David has assisted with developing and delivering training to the General, Construction and Oil and Gas industry since 2011. He is very resourceful in problem solving, providing both short- and long-term solutions. David’s experience has enabled him to develop and assists clients in developing proven, cost-effective management programs to reduce losses, increase profitability and comply with OSHA and federal regulations that consistently generate results.
