Safety Professional

Houston-Based Only Safety by Design is a full-service third-party safety consulting firm based in Houston, Texas. We are currently seeking a Safety Professional to provide oversight on a client project. The Safety Professional will be responsible for identifying issues regarding safety matters at the project site and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety requirements. Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspect buildings and equipment to ensure they meet company and industry safety standards
  • Review current operational practices to find areas that need improvement
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures
  • Conduct safety training sessions for new and current staff
  • Develop new or enhanced safety procedures to reduce or eliminate safety risks
  • Investigate causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job site

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field
  • 3+ years of professional safety experience
  • In-depth knowledge of governmental safety regulations and industry safety standards
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic first aid procedures
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

 


Bilingual Safety Trainer

Houston-Based Only Safety by Design is a full-service third-party safety consulting firm based in Houston, Texas. We are currently seeking a Bilingual Safety Trainer to join our growing team. The Safety Trainer will be responsible for providing training to staff to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. The trainer must have the ability to understand and to make one’s self-understood to Spanish speaking individuals. Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct training programs for existing and new policies and procedures
  • Administer tests and evaluations to class participants to ensure knowledge is gained during the class
  • Review all training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety requirements
  • Stay current and knowledgeable of the operation of relevant equipment
  • Communicate with management to provide records and reports on training progress

Job Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field
  • 3+ years of classroom and on-site training experience in several safety topics
  • Strong understanding of governmental safety regulations and industry safety standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable in delivering course material to classes of all sizes
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Certifications:

  • OSHA 500 Trainer Course
  • NCCER Certification

 


Project Safety Assistant (PSA)

  • Must include at least five (5) years that have been dedicated solely to building construction safety. 
  • The PSA must have practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolding, excavations, confined spaces, crane/equipment operations, electrical, incident investigation, and other such safety/health related training. Training of less than four (4) hours in duration per topic will not be considered acceptable for this requirement. Continuing education of noted training must be dated within five (5) years of the executed contract. An OSHA 10/30 Construction Outreach or OSHA 510 certification will not be acceptable for this training requirement. The PSA shall possess a certificate of completion for the OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) or the OSHA 500 (Train the Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health for Construction Industry) or OSHA 502 (Update for the Construction Industry Outreach Trainer) in addition to the continuing education requirements previously noted. The certificate must be dated within five (5) years of the executed Contract. The PSA must show evidence of specialized training for Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) current to within two (2) years.

 


Project Safety Coordinator (PSC)

  • Seven (7) years that have been dedicated solely to building construction safety
  • Five (5) years of construction safety process management experience.
  • Any candidate that has completed a four (4) year degree in a safety-related discipline must show at least three (3) years of actual field experience in safety to qualify for a PSC position.
  • PSC must have practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education infall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, incident investigation, and other such safety/health related training. Training of less than four (4) hours in duration per topic will not be considered acceptable for this requirement. Continuing education of noted training must be dated within five (5) years of the executed contract. OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Outreach or OSHA 510 certificates will not be acceptable for this training requirement.
