Disclaimer on Field Experience Requirements
According to OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120 and 1926.65(e)(3):
General site workers must receive a minimum of 40 hours of instruction off-site and at least three days of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor.
Occasional site workers must receive a minimum of 24 hours of instruction off-site and at least one day of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor.
The field experience portion must be completed by the employer and is not part of the Safety by Design training.

Is HAZWOPER training the same as OSHA certification?
No, OSHA does not issue individual HAZWOPER certifications. A training provider can give employees a certificate or course completion record after they finish the required instruction.
Are the 24-hour and 40-hour HAZWOPER courses interchangeable?
